People today must feel as if they’re being assaulted on all sides by so many potentially-harmful substances, many of which come from the air they breathe and the food they eat, such that they scarcely know which way to turn. But they can help themselves overcome these environmental insults by engaging in “detoxification“ as a first step. As to what a body cleanse detox is, understand that it can be a good way back towards optimum health.
To get an idea of why detoxification can help, understand that our bodies are constantly taking in a wide variety of substances, both helpful and not-so-helpful. As levels of these not-so-helpful substances build up and are retained within the body, certain harmful side effects begin to manifest themselves. These can include a feeling of tiredness, low-level headaches, sore and achy muscles and joints, and other symptoms that are hard to pin down, yet result in that vague “not 100%“ feeling.
In quite a few instances, many such symptoms are difficult to pin down to a specific disease process because they aren’t really part of that process itself. Toxic levels have built-up, though, over time and have begun to interfere with the normal state of optimal function that usually takes place in the human body. When it doesn’t operate optimally, a human body isn’t in a great state of homeostasis. All people should be trying to encourage their bodies to operate optimally for long life and vigorous health.
All of the above make for good reasons why a detoxification involving body cleansing should be undertaken at least occasionally, and the first step is to begin drinking clean, natural spring water in increasing amounts. Starting with this simple step – flushing – is highly useful because increased water (always taken in sensible amounts) can help a body begin flushing out accumulated toxins that have built up within the tissues of the body. Start with an extra glass a day and go from there.
Just about every health expert will say that drinking more water is a good first step, but that more is necessary if a solid detox program is to succeed. Many recommend changing one’s diet as much as possible so that it is healthier and more organic in nature. This may include whole grains and extra fruits and vegetables, while excluding fatty foods, fried foods, sugary foods and other unhealthy substances. In general, these are known as “detox diets”.
There are also a number of speedier detox programs that call for much stricter protocols, along with the intake of special dietary supplements, of course. They can actually take as little as two days, though most will require a week or more of concerted effort to pull off. However, when they’re done correctly, they are very effective at helping the body do the things necessary to flush from its tissues a range of possibly toxic substances within a short amount of time.
The most effective short-term detox program is one that involves a concerted effort to fast. These fasting detox episodes have to be undertaken with great care, and are usually combined with the drinking of certain liquids. This course can in effect “force” a body into expelling from its tissues a variety of potentially unhealthy substances and even free radicals, which contribute to the oxidization of cells and tissues within the human body.
A good body cleanse is indeed possible to pull off with just a little bit of research and effort. It can occur over as little as a weekend or as much as a month. Some of the more involved detox programs will require consistent application of sound principles and people intending to try to detoxify themselves should always make sure they do so very carefully. If done properly, however, the potential health benefits of body cleansing can be impressive.
