Look for a dental practice that offers a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Some dentists seek to treat you like a friend and listen to your needs, helping you understand your treatment. When was the last time you had fun going to the dentist? At least find someone who makes the process a little less to bear.

This Top 10 was put together and is arranged by how commonly people store the dental practice’s information for themselves. This list is ordered on the basis that people store information on dentists that they prefer the business and want to connect with them again.

Look for cosmetic services that help you reach your goal of a younger-looking, more beautiful smile. If you still have those old, chipped silver fillings you received when you were a teenager, those can be replaced with practically-invisible fillings. If your teeth have become discolored, there are different bleaching options depending on what your needs and desires are. Also look into into Invisalign for teeth-straightening.

After Lasik Eye Surgery Recovering Does Not Take Very Long

June 20, 2008 By: PF Category: General Health No Comments →

One of the fastest, easiest and most popular ways to correct many common vision problems is through a procedure called Lasik laser eye surgery. One reason why this is such a widespread and in-demand procedure is that there is very little risk of infection or complications. However, there are still some important guidelines to follow after Lasik eye surgery, to assure the very best outcome.

One of the first things that people want to know when they are considering corrective eye surgery is how long it will take, after the surgery, before they are able to return to their normal daily activities. The good news is that recovery from this type of laser eye surgery is quite rapid and within a couple days after the procedure, most people can get back to life as normal, except without the hassle of needing their eyeglasses or their contact lenses.

One thing that needs to be avoided for a few days after Lasik eye surgery is touching or rubbing the eyes and guarding them from any type of poking. In addition, right after the corrective eye surgery is done, most laser eye surgeons also recommend that the patient stay as still as possible, and reclined if at all possible, with their eyes closed.

Once these few hours have passed after surgery, the patient is then able to get back to their routine activities, either at home or at work. Still, rubbing the eyes should be avoided for a few days and if dryness or itchiness occurs, then the patient should used lubricating eye-drops to help alleviate the irritation and to sooth the eyes. Most Lasik eye center facilities will provide the patient with drops for their eyes for this very purpose.

After corrective eye surgery, it is also recommended that patients wear a soft protective eye-mask at night so that the affected eyes are buffered and protected from any inadvertent bumps, scraping or rubbing. This also helps to make sure that no foreign objects enter the eyes during this brief period of recovery from the Lasik vision surgery.

While there is historically very little occurrence of infections with laser eye surgery in general, some laser eye surgeons will prescribe antibiotics as a precaution. If antibiotics, or any other medications, have been prescribed, it is important to take these medications exactly as prescribed by the Lasik eye doctor. Also, most doctors will recommend that you drink plenty of water in order to be sure the eyes are properly hydrated during the healing process.

After Lasik Eye Surgery, the patient should choose to bathe and avoid showering for about a week, in order to lessen the chance of getting soapy water in the eyes. Laser eye surgeons advise that normal, routine activities such as working at the computer, watching TV, and reading can be returned to quickly after surgery. However, they also emphasize that it is very important to keep the eyes well lubricated during these activities. With these simple precautions in mind, the patient will be able to recover very quickly and simply enjoy their enhanced vision.

Implant Dentistry: A Great Alternative To Dentures

June 19, 2008 By: PF Category: General Health No Comments →

How much do you know about tooth implants? Losing a tooth by accident or by extraction is not the end of the matter. When a tooth is missing, the gap it leaves will allow nearby teeth to tilt or drift from their normal position, and the teeth above the gap will move downward.

Aside from the obvious cosmetic problem, the changed positions of these teeth can lead to severe bite problems causing jaw pain and headaches. Missing teeth should be replaced to keep other teeth in their normal position. This can be done by means of a fixed dental bridge or a dental implant. Both of these treatments offer a good functional and cosmetic result.

Dental implants are a permanent solution to lost teeth. Rather than removable dentures, patients are given titanium tooth implants. Because of its ability to bond with bone, titanium is an ideal material for surgical implants. An artificial tooth is then placed over the implant. In the past several decades, teeth implants have exploded in popularity, offering a more natural tooth replacement than any other current dental technique.

In the 1960’s, it was discovered that bone will grow so close to a titanium implant that bone and implant essentially become one. As the body heals for approximately two to six months after the surgery, the bone around the tooth implant fuses to the implant through a process called osseointegration. After the healing phase is complete, the implants are used to anchor crowns, bridges, or dentures.

Traditionally, a dental surgeon, like an oral surgeon or a periodontist, performs the surgical component. A general dentist, or prosthodontist and laboratory technician performs the restorative component. However, as implant dentistry has become more sophisticated, sometimes a dentist who specializes in restorative dentistry conducts the entire procedure. More and more general dentists are also implant dentists.

Many general dentists are proud of the success they have had with dental implants. “I’ve been placing implants since 1984. I did an internship in implants. In twenty years, I have only ever lost one dental implant due to implant non-integration,” proclaimed a general dentist. Another dentist agreed, saying, “Most implants are well within the abilities of general dentists. The expertise comes in knowing which ones to refer out.”

So don’t let a missing tooth ruin your smile - not when implant dentistry can offer a permanent solution!

Pain Free Dentistry Great For Anyone Who Hates The Dentist

June 15, 2008 By: PF Category: General Health No Comments →

Most general dentists offer dentist sedation services to their dental patients, according to a Wealthy Dentist dentist web sites survey. Two out of three dentists reported that their dental practices offer oral conscious sedation. A quarter of dentists don’t feel comfortable offering sedation. And 8% said that they wished they were able to offer OCS, but regulations in their state made it too difficult to implement in their practice.

Dental sedation (commonly known as “sleep dentistry”) is often used to treat people who are anxious, many of whom have not visited a dentist in years. It’s also ideal for patients who are very young or have special needs. Patients may prefer sedation dentistry if they have sensitive teeth, dramatic gag reflexes, problems with Novocaine, or have had unpleasant dental experiences in the past. It can also be a time-saver for patients with complex dental problems: what might otherwise take six appointments can be done all at once.

Sedation is a valuable tool in dentistry, especially for anxious patients, children, or those with special needs. “I love it and think it is very safe,” raved a Michigan dentist. “I think oral conscious sedation is a fantastic way to provide fearful patients a comfortable, safe way of getting their dental work done,” said a California dentist. “When you weigh the negative aspects of dental pathology, conscious sedation provides an avenue of treatment for these otherwise untreatable patients.”

Dentists agree that sedation dentistry should be regulated, but they disagree as to the right level of regulation. “I am very pleased that many states are starting to regulate this and have established minimum requirements to use OCS,” said an Arizona periodontist. “The regulations are overly onerous. More rules and regulations won’t prevent irresponsible behavior; they will only prevent many competent practitioners from utilizing this modality,” opined a Maryland pediatric dentist.

Many dentists are frustrated and unsure if they will be able to continue offering sleep dentistry. “We need a clear understanding of the new laws regarding what type of training/certification we will need to continue to offer oral conscious sedation in our practice,” said a North Carolina dentist. A Minnesota dentist voiced another concern, saying, “Liability issues scare me off.”

Those outside the dental industry may not realize the grand power struggle behind the sedation debate. Explains a California general dentist, “Dental anesthesiologists are expensive and OCS has taken away a lot of their business; therefore they want the most onerous regulations and education requirements so fewer general dentists can offer conscious sedation.”

“Oral conscious sedation may be the most controversial topic in dentistry right now,” said Jim Du Molin, dental marketing consultant and founder of The Wealthy Dentist. “There’s a huge battle going on, and it hurts me to think of how many patients might not get dental care if new guidelines go into effect. Is it really in patients’ best interest to limit their dental options?”

Well just in case anybody’s a little fuzzy on the details of it, let me break it down for you. Our stomachs do have three tasks. One it stores our swallowed food. Our stomachs can also be pretty sensitive which is why there are such a wide variety of stomach problems that plague people each and everyday.

Heartburn is another form of a stomach issue. What happens when somebody is dealing with heartburn is when you feel a burning sensation in your chest to the point where it can feel like it’s on fire.
